BBB

Under the influence of our three-day stay in freemason town Paraty, we have discovered the joys of conspiracy theories. What was random chaos before has suddenly started to look a lot like a pre-determined pattern. The wide range of activities, sights, and experiences of our past two weeks in Brazil have turned out to all fall under the same heading: Beautiful Brazilian things starting with a B (BBB). (© Hinde Haest 2011)

For all non-Dutch/non-sporty: BBB normally stands for an activity that takes place in the gym with the purpose of strengthening and shaping your Belly, Bum, and (b)Legs. We ourselves had an outdoor-session on flip flops while walking around in Sao Paulo - but that is a different story all together. Conscious as Brazilians are about their appearance, gyms can be found anywhere. To give you a taste of their lifestyle, we have put together a typical Brazilian training plan, full of Beautiful Brazilian B´s

Warming up:
To get the temperature up, the first thing you do is head to the Beach. Good Beaches can be found in Barra da Lagoa, Paraty, and, of course, Rio. Some Beaches are filled with BoardBabes, like us (with the minor difference that we are on a long -loser- board instead of the short -slick- board). And, if you sit tight, you may even see some Baby turtles being Born on the Beach. You may also want to take a Boat to reach the more remote Beaches. On the Boat that we took we came across an odd and seemingly lost trio of Austrian Schilehrer that, obviously, made Jori think of Vienna - not that she needs any help for that (...). In any case,  these Schilehrer in Brazil made us think of other wannabes such as our surfer friend in the Mediterranean (equally out of place)- Brice de Nice.

Exercise:
The second and most intense part of the training only starts after sunset. When the Beat drops, it is time to dance. Whether it is to Bob Sinclar in Pacha or to Bossa Nova, thou shall move thy Body. Especially if you were brought there by a party-Bussi so full it almost did not manage to get up the hill.
Almost as exhausting as the Beats, are the Buffets (Buffet Baby guaranteed). A thorough warming-up, including Belly-stretching, is absolutely necessary before you dig into the food per kilo. Feijoada, pizze Paulistanas, pão de queijo, and the sandviche de mortadella (to name a few) also pose a great challenge, even to the most experienced among us.

Cooling down:
After all this exertion, you may now go to the Bartender and get yourself some Booze. With over a hundred varieties of cachaça, chosing one of them for your caipirinha may actually be the hardest part of this BBB-lesson. Grandpa`s Bomboms caseiros (Backpackers` Sharehouse) will provide a perfect match to the sugarbomb in your glass.

With Beautiful Brazilian Beaches, Beautiful Brazilian Beats, and Beautiful Brazilian Booze, you will have the complete Holy Trinity of Brazil.*

* Disclaimer: the writers of this Blog are not responsible for the state of your Belly, Bum, and/or (b)Legs after following the advice above. For your head and stomach though, we can provide you with Beautiful Brazilian Beat-your-hangover-pills that are sold in every drugstore here.
